So, Playtonic decided to kick JonTron off of their game for the sake of “celebrating diversity and to make their players feel 100% comfortable with their games” after he made some quote-unquote, “controversial” statements on a live stream. While Jon may be upset about this news, but still wishing the company good luck, people were upset about his removal and the explanation given to it, and it didn’t help that a good portion of those who funded the Kickstarter was because of him. As a result, many backers have taken their fury to the Steam forums, asking for refunds and/or giving out their concerns on this decision…and were subsequently banned for it. And not only that, the person banning these people at Playtonic's publisher, Team 17, are also openly mocking them for that. It’s one thing to kick out a person out of a project for having an opinion, and then there’s being a butt and just blocking and mocking people for not taking that decision well.

This is very similar to the situation in Mighty No. 9, back when that game was hailed as the next coming of Mega Man, when a very questionable person with very little knowledge of Mega Man was appointed to be the bridge between the fans and the development team, a community manager, if you will. Her dubious behavior on the forums led to the bans of various backers and other ones started asking for refunds as a result of her poor judgment. And on top of that, that controversy was only the start of MN9's problems as it got closer to release…eventually after delay, after delay, after delay.

You were so close, Yooka-Laylee, but you ultimately ended up tripping near the finish line.
