I can kind of see it. From my experience during the lead up to Smash 4, people believed there to be a system in place that they could predict what characters would be in the game. A law of sorts, one may say.

Of course it was mostly a bunch of bullshit that people used to shit on people who wanted characters other than the one they wanted. Pretty evil if you ask me.

Then I suppose in a more general sense the Smash fandom is always bickering with one another about things like how the games should be played, which could be seen as an evil attempt at establishing a law that would limit others who disagreed with the established order.

In short the fandom can look like it's made up of a bunch of assholes who are always trying to tell one another what should or shouldn't be.

Yeah, I understand completely!

Pikmin = Generally friendly community that helps as much as they can.
Animal Crossing = Like Pikmin, mostly helpful. They just tend to get distracted more often, and sometimes treat their villagers like pets(IE LOOK Rosco's doing something cute!).
Kirby = Total jokers who tend to get caught up in their daily memes.
Metroid = There is but one goal with Metroid, get more Metroid games made. Assistance is delivered mostly via guides over personal experience.
Mario = The basic of basic. Simple folk that do what they want, when they want.
Zelda = Slightly rifted from the slight variants in game styles, but still a somewhat helpful group that won't hate you for saying which game is your favorite.
Smash = Two communities constantly trying to prove which "Play style" is the true Smash experience.
Pokemon = Like Smash, but slightly more disjointed. More types of competitive, more types of casual, everyone has generally agreed that trying to assert any one playstyle as "true" is useless at this point. Somehow still helpful.
Fire Emblem = Completely torn apart outside Japan. Ever since Awakening(cough New Mysteries of the Emblem) added in Casual mode the fanbase was forever split. Classic Purists who despise the idea of turning off permadeath. And Casuals who adore the crutch handed to them.
