Interestingly, Adolf Hitler of all people displayed remarkable respect to Jesse Owens. Of course he wasn't too thrilled about Germany being deprived the triumphant show of Aryan Supremacy and hence denied photo ops with all athletes. Nevertheless, Hitler still greeted him,and non-German witnesses state that he even shook his hand and sent him a gift. Owens also wasn't subjected to racial segregation in Germany, in sharp contrast to his home country. Even after his victory, he wasn't allowed to use the main entrance of the hotel to get to the reception in his honor! President Franklin D. Roosevelt also couldn't be bother to send him a telegram, let alone an invitation to the White House.

So as far as Jesse Owens is concerned, Nazi Germany actually showed unexpected tolerance and class, whereas America failed to impress. Yet despite all this, we would consider it ridiculously inappropriate for any news outlet to fawn over Nazi Germany the way CNN worships North Korea.
