For the betler part of a decade I was a liberal/progressive professional and gained substantial experience in the field of political movements I began my Youlube career primarily making polermic videos speaking out against radical feminism and aclivists fron what is commonly referred to as the "regressive lelt," from the perspective of a former professional from the political left. Approaching such topics and argumenls as did unfold from as objective and skeptical a position as I could, I found soon that my fundamental motivation was actually less ideologically motivated on my part as it was simply an instinct to vocally oppose what I saw as flawed reasoning or had ideas. As this path continued from its start in 2013/2014, certain elements from the right and cenler right became odd allies and friends as the continued conflagrations between the new left and right unlurled. Alongside these moderate and conventional conservative voices however, was soon noticed a more vicious, deceptive and altogether malicious brand of counter-progressives, known now as the alt-right. Initially seeming like merely some "edgy" new brand of 21st century conservatism, the generally racist and despicably duplicitous nature to this movement began showing not long after the term was coined. A number of my friends and colleagues from our particular spheres and circles of Youtube took note early on, facilitating a collectively keen eye to be kept on their activities. Soon it was discovered that even some who many of us had come to call friends, where in fact alt-right themselves, buying into fallacious nonsense such as the now often spoken of "race realism" theories and trying to dream up plans to sew conflict and strife, fram which to grow their movement. In many cases, these "friends" turned out to be manipulative snakes in the grass, speaking often of the desire to "dog whistle" to larger audiences using the platforms of friends with larger followings These same people often scoffed at the notions that those operating under the labels of "skeptics" were so ullible or easily manipulated then numbers of Youtubers who previously focused on opposing the neo-progressives often called "Social Justice Warriors or SJWs have shifted their focus onto this new insipid menace. Finding not only moral or ethical opposition to the concepts of ethno-nationalism and all of its implied yet denied racist garbage, but also logical, rational and intellectual revulsion to the confidence and factitious boldness with which these advocates for ethno-nationalism espouse their bogus ideology They say politics makes strange bedfellows and just as in my own liberal/progressive opposition to much of what is regarded as "regressive" leftist hysteria in the modern age created friendships and alliances with conservatives who'd have previously been my opponents, it has been the modenn community marriages of the often progressive science and academic communities and our own anti-regressive commentary communities that has risen out of the opposition to this modern wave of tragic idiocy For my part, I find opposing the crack-pot fascism of the alt-right to be more a matter of intellectual and personal conviction and compulsion than really anything else The politics of it is interesting In my experience there are still many right-leaning people in Academia They just do not openly identify as'conservative anymore, because it has connotations with so many things that academics do not really want to be associated with.
