After comparing the beta's map to Japan's, anons noticed where the location of beta Ruins of Alp was (basically Hiroshima) and came to this interesting theory about what the Unown actually are.

Along with the beta having a solider sprite and a few Pokemon such as Remoraid and Octillery's beta being literally based on weapons, it's easy to see why they'd come to this conclusion.

There's also Unown's cards in the TCG having some interesting words that may or may not be related.

Or all of it could just be some really weird coincidence.
