I have my doubts about that.

In the original Sun/Moon, on Exeggutor Island, Lillie's dialogue to the player changes, based on gender. If male, she says she just wants to be with you. If female, she says she wants to become as strong as you. If there was no crush between Sun and Lillie, one line would be applied to both genders.
