Remember when Tumblr started having a horrible rep because of all the awful fandoms, mob mentality, crazy opinions, and all that awful shit? And how you could still have a lot of fun by avoiding that awful side?
Well, the same happened to twitter, but it's worse, because it's no longer contained to a site the average person gives a shit about, but instead to a social platform that can actually influence real life, so the level of shittines is beyond anything; this without considering that the text limitation offers even less ways to make arguments, and ends creating worse echo chambers because people are reduced to the most basic and simple means of communication.
But also, like with Tumblr, you can have a very good experience if you stay away from it. However, the trends that explode and get media attention are often the worst, and many times violent or dumb beyond words.
