Lyle Rath Ф Follow @LyleRath I see a lot of people who have trouble can give is to ALWAYS look at it as a tool handling social media. The best adviceI It isn't your home. It's a stage you step up on. If you're not the kind of person to get onstage and bare your soul, you shouldn't do it on twitter either. 4:36 PM 20 Mar 2019 476 Retweets 2,757 Likes EA 28 476 2.BK Lyle Rath » Follow @LyleRath I don't get real on here a lot, and I pretty much never feel compelled to. I think a lot of people don't realize that what they're trying to make a comfort zone is actually the online equivalent of a sold out Madison Square Garden and it just doesn't work like that. 4:49 PM-20 Mar 2019 33 Retweets 478 Likes Lyle Rath * Follow LyleRath Like obviously it's not one to one, but what I'm saying is, right now I don't picture myself sitting across from someone at a coffee table and saying all this. The mental image I have is more like it's a half-cocked Ted Talk at an open air market. 4:55 PM-20 Mar 2019 18 Retweets 377 Likes Lyle Rath Ф @LyleRath Follow Granted your "stage" depends on hovw many people follow you and who they are. If it's the size of a coffee shop and half the people there are your friends, you can be more intimate. If you want to bring that to the palladium, more power to ya. Awareness is what's important. 5:18 PM-20 Mar 2019 6% DOP f 16 Retweets 334 Likes Lyle Rath @LyleRath Follow And speaking of awareness, it's time for J--- Joke Cartoon Man to get offstage. Hope this helped someone. 5:21 PM-20 Mar 2019 13 Retweets 352 LikesO

Same. Despite its name, social media is anything but "social" these days, so you are better off using it for the "media" part instead and leave the social aspect to real-life interactions as much as possible. If anything, Twitter distances you from being properly in touch with people in an acceptable social aspect if you spend too much time in it.

Twitter lets you say things that you used to be unable to say because you'd get punched in the mouth. And while getting punched in the face never happened, on some level of thinking you knew that it could happen if you said something truly horrible. Knowing its impossible to be punched in the face, or even identified, is what turned twitter into a shithole.

Also 140 characters can start a fight but not peacefully resolve a complex issue. The platform was practically designed to cause fights.
