Danny Green recalls a 2011 trip to a used car dealership in San Antonio to assist a rookie Kawhi Leonard with his first car purchase. When a salesman asked what features he sought in his ideal car, Kawhi replied, "a good steering wheel that doesn't fly off while you're driving." Sensing confusion from the salesman and Green, Kawhi reiterated he wanted a car with "a great steering wheel that doesn't whiff out of the window while I'm driving." Green then asked his teammate what he wanted his first car to look like. Kawhi told him he wanted a car that was "too small, so when I get in there, I'm like, 'if the steering wheel fly off, I'm toast.'" The salesman, still unsure what his prospective customer was looking for, followed up with a question about the type of interior Kawhi envisioned in his dream car. One time after practice everyone decided to go out for a team dinner. When it was his turn to order, Kawhi waived off the waiter and instead pulled out a bag of 12 apples.
