Can confirm the difficulty part. Not because I myself was terribly skilled at games when I was a kid (I was very much not, in fact), but because my brother's daughter is, who is like 11. Yes, extreme difficulty included, and she makes it look like default difficulty. Meanwhile, I myself cannot even get a damn perfect in Splatoon 2's rhythm minigame for anything beyond literally the easiest 3 songs in the easiest difficulty.
The whole "kids can't do difficulty" is, has been and will remain being the biggest lie in gaming. Kids can be way better¨than any adult not playing competitively on just about any game, and Pokemon in particular has no excuse, since even the hardest of Pokemon games are not that hard.
