I haven't served in the army, my brother did and he found it's a nightmare when anything happens there, he got injured during some training – which falls under "he accepted the risk", while recovering some asshole staked him like he was a goddamn vampire (the brass still ruled it as "accepted risk"), then got repeatedly stabbed with used needles (resulting in hepatitis) at the infirmary which finally was recognized as "dude what the fuck just shoot him if you hate him so much".

His lawyer is losing sleep because the case is a tug-o-war to have it judged on civil or martial court, and bro says he got lucky, fellow servicemen got worse and it gets sweeped under the rug because "they knew what they were getting into", lowkey getting murdered by psychotic recruits who should be their brothers instead of genuine fatalities or KIA.
