Just goes to show it's all about execution. You can have an idea that sounds absolutely terrible on paper, but if you carry it out in just the right way it can be absolutely spectacular. Of course, a lot of this sort of advice is aimed at less experienced writers who might not have the experience needed to properly pull this sort of thing off. So it's good to play it safe with your ideas until you feel comfortable branching out.

Hellsing Ultimate is the story of how Count Dracula and a descendant of Abraham van Helsing teamed up with a sexy British policewoman to take down basically-mecha-Hitler and his evil army of undead Nazis in order to prevent them from starting World War 3. Dracula calls himself Alucard now because he's good here even though he is still basically evil, wears all read and black, is sexxxy AF, and dual-wields two of the biggest pistols you ever saw.

It works not just because it is well made but because it's corny and self-aware while playing its maximum edginess with a straight face.
