Y'know, for as much as I miss Nerf NOW!!'s early days of just being a cutesy TF2 comic, the commentary it puts out is often very pertinent. Modern meme culture is a farce, especially insomuch that there's even a "meme culture" to begin with, rather than memes just being… y'know, a thing that's there.

It's the exposure.

Before only the dedicated browsed the internet. It wasn't as easy to connect and required a little more know-how to navigate. A kind of a filter or barrier of entry.
Social media wasn't really a thing, and you couldn't surf over your phone. Now that everyone is browsing the internet from anywhere, you get bombarded with it far more often. It gets old.

Used to be that only nerds and their friends knew what theses "mee-mees" were. They were inside jokes and clever illustrations that expressed relatable feelings. Now that your sister, your mom and your grandpa all know how to share memes across facebook, twitter and tik-tok, etc, you can't escape from it. They get diluted and overused (or worse, miss used) very quickly.

TL;DR – I miss the early 00s.
