I am OK with all of that being a choice for women, but not an imposed lifestyle. Likewise, workplaces should adapt to this and make it easier on anyone's lifestyle choice. You know, for the children. They are the ones that ultimately matter the most here.
It's an exaggeration for comedic effect, but essentially yes. They want a stay at home wife to raise kids with while they bring home the bacon. Frankly, it's not a bad way to live. Less money but probably better raised kids. Personally, I'm more of a fan of the homebody (husband or wife, whatever) having a part-time job/career. Then she or he can work while the kids are at school but be off when the kids get home. Otoh, house chores can be pretty time consuming, and they are the traditional field of the wife while the man is at work.
Ultimately, this is something that should be discussed when couple discuss having children. I know a few families that, when the wife had kids, she dropped or severely reduced the hours of her job to spend more time with the kids. The ones who dropped their jobs completely generally had a more difficult time jumping back into their careers once their kids entered school. The ones who only reduced hours were usually able to jump back to full time a lot easier. One wife didn't go back to working at all and instead became more active in community organizations when her kids started growing up. I don't know any men that became stay at home dads. Just my 2 cents.
