>The Libertarian Party shares values with me, a Bernie Sanders supporter >Literally just the entire Libertarian Party shares values with me
Ask me how I know you're retarded.
If anything, the fact that you have to vote strategically rather than based on your values just shows how complete fucking broken the system is.
Voting should be based on a ranking list of preference, who you'd most likely like to see be the president down to the least favorite.
And then when your first choice drops out, your vote is erased and your second choice gets your vote etc. until you have a candidate that over 51% of the population (none of that gerrymandering bullshit!) agree on.
Due to the First Past the Post system it is mathematically possible to get 100% of the power. while only 25% of the voters vote for you.
After all, for full power you just need one seat over the majority. so 50%1. And you get a seat by winning a district. You only need to win the district by one vote, so 50%1 again… and 0.5² = 0.25, so 25% of the votes, just distributed in the right way.
And that doesn't even take gerrymandering into account, meaning you could probably win with even less. Like 15-20% of all votes. And you don't even need 50+% just the single candidate with the most votes.
