People in the West generally only know about Islam and Christianity, because those have been the powerful religions in Western Eurasia for the last 1500 years.
Buddist warrior monks are a thing historically. Buddist nations are currently (removing) their religious minorities. Ashoka the Great didn't unite India by preaching about peace and moderation to the Sub-continent.
Hindu's regularly pogrom Muslim minorities, and others.
The Stoic Philosopher Hadrian, admired by many people today, basically slaughter or expelled every Jew in what was then Judea. His Sol Invictus worshiping fellow emperors massacred myriad Christians, and other peoples who also didn't follow their religion or agree to worship the emperor.
Mao had millions of people tortured abused and killed while attempting to enforce his philosophy in the Cultural Revolution.
If you spend any honest amount of time looking, you'll find that you can list every major/powerful religion or philosophy in human history here.
The peace claims are generally popular right now because proving your ideals are strong through conquest is out of fashion.
Kinda goes to show that the phrase "(insert specific ethnic group here) is terrible" can easily be changed into " humans in general are terrible" with a bit of research.
