Its one of the examples of "Popular thing bad".
After some time later, when its not as talked about, people go "Oh, it wasnt bad, but it was popular so I hated it to be a contrarian".
Minecraft, MLP, Undertale, Homestuck, Fortnite and other hundreds of things that had the same "problem".

But personally I dont get how Avatar (The Cameron alien movie) was so popular, it was so bad and predictable that it hurts.

Honestly we're not nearly close on how big it was back in early 2010s,even if I despised it back when it was at its peak I have to admit I was too harsh at the time. Hell,I don't think they deserved so much hate to begin with.
