Sonic the Hedgehog - We're the lucky ones

I laughed but I honestly believe it's better to not have any more games/characterization that to have that characterization by people who dont know what the fuck they're doin

I don't think people expect AAA quality writing (at least most people), but there has been a notable drop in quality for character writing from the Adventure games to the more recent titles (ex. Tails's character in Adventure 1/2 compared to Forces), so people have started to complain that characters and stories are less interesting and engaging. There has been an obvious change in style for the stories within the main series over the years, which has led to the change in characterization that people don't like, while TF2 has stayed the same style since its release.
I don't think people wanting characterization to be a consistent quality between mainline games is the same as people asking to give Sonic a sword and change his mechanics (even then Black Knight was a spin-off and meant to be different. Honestly Mario Sunshine and Fludd is weirder in my opinion).
