Colorized History - Operation Torch, French North Africa, 1942

F--- guys, that kid in the centre of the picture can't be much older than my little step-brother. Someone who isn't old enough to legally drink alcohol or vote, shouldn't be fighting a war.

Anyway, context time since this one is a bit more niche than the others. This photo was taken during <a href="https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Operation_Torch#:~:text=Operation%20Torch%20(8%20November%201942,they%20might%20support%20the%20Allies.">Operation Torch</a> which was a combined Anglo-American operation which saw them battling the <a href="https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Vichy_France">Vichy French</a> for control of French North Africa.

Although it was initially hoped that the French would surrender without a fight, due to a strong Free French Presence in the region, the invasion force soon came under fire from snipers and coastal artillery batteries. The resulting campaign lasted from 8 November 1942 – 13 May 1943 and resulted in about 2000 casualties for each side.
