I can not see what this is trying to convey beyond that the fact that the writer has no understanding of WWII or how politics work.

It's also a false comparison. Terrorists might fight for a given country, and even be financially supported, but they aren't soldiers for said country. Japan's attack was an outward and formal declaration of war during a time when the US's own populace was urging its politicians to not join in.

But when have facts ever gotten in the way of anti-left narratives?
