Neil Armstrong and Edwin 'Buzz' Aldrin become the first humans to land on another celestial body. (July, 1969)

The [_Commodore Vanderbilt_] was a streamlined version of the venerable Class J1-E 4-6-4 Hudson locomotive that ran on the New York Central System.

The first of its kind to be modified for streamlining on the New York Central, it was christened in 1934 and pulled the [_Empire State Express_] for the duration of its career. Two more locomotives were streamlined in its pattern, designed by Karl F. Cantola. Later streamlined engines on the system would take after the pattern designed by Henry Dreyfuss.

Sadly, none of the Hudsons survive today. All were scrapped by 1954

'We DO Hate' - The Lincoln Rockwell Hate Bus; Virginia, USA, 1961

George Lincoln Rockwell (far right) was the founder of the American Nazi Party, with views based on opposition to race mixing and an imagined global Jewish conspiracy. The Hate Bus, decorated with racial slogans, was used to drive Rockwell and comrades (wearing uniforms based on their German inspirations) to various engagements throughout the Deep South.

Pictured kneeling on the far left is John Patler, who would eventually shoot and kill Rockwell in 1967.

I don't know about anyone else, but I find this photo to be really sad.

This old lady is sitting in the ruins of her city and is having her picture taken in front of a painting to make it look like she is somewhere safe and peaceful.

I suppose one so inclined could say this is an apt metaphor for Poland as a whole during the Soviet Occupation, but I am sure there are people more qualified than I who can say such things.
