Less than 20 years ago dad was already hawking about pulling myself by the bootstraps and get a house already. Aight then, minimum wage was >500 monies/month, a 300sqm plot in the neighborhood was anywhere 3-5k, and dad was sitting on about 20k of severance pay. Both his plots of land were worth 13k monies.

20 years later these are now worth about 300k monies, and half a plot (150sqm) goes for 180k. Minimum wage barely doubled since.

He blew all of that severance pay on a car he barely used, which can be resold for less than 10k.
