Huh. I never realized it but we have lived through a recession, The Great Recession, whats starting now, 9/11, scores of terrorist attacks, constant large scale wars for almost a decade with continuing presence long after we have won, several cities being burned down and the WuFlu.

Its like we're the discount dollar store version of the G.I Generation.

Same with what was with WWII and Soviet Union. They're our friends, tovarisch!

… reminds me that time Joel was playing Shadow President (tl;dr it's 1990 and you're POTUS. Reach 1994 alive and popular enough to be reelected), once he got tired of being killed by norwegian ninjas after sending 5,000 nukes to Norway and similar levels of tomfollery, he starts playing aaalmost right, and seems to be on the path to win, even the crazy idea to send a few nukes towards Saddam worked out in the end; Many condemned the attack, URSS complained about radiation fallout reaching them, but eventually Iraq lost allies, and something worked out in the end with them surrendering and decontamination plans in the way, all while becoming more popular.

Then when the game's in the pocket (the major conflict solved via nukes and diplomacy)… INCOMING NUKE FROM CHINA. Game becomes "WWIII – Everybody including URSS vs. China", and eventually he loses by being impeached with chinese spy meddling. This comes from a DOS game from early 90s.

Back then China being the secret final boss was way out of the left field. Today it sounds prophetic.
