I'm familiar with this battle. If I recall Boudica's rebel forces were amassed into one giant mob and zerged rush a small, but well position Roman defense head on. The Roman were flanked on all sides by natural defenses, so the rebels quickly became funneled in, making their superior numbers useless. Gradually the rebels were cut down to ribbons, like throwing a log into a woodchipper,
To make it worse for the rebels, they had the poor idea to bring their supply wagons and families right behind them. This created an artificial barrier for the rebels, effectively encircling themselves and cutting off any decent retreat. Naturally, a bloodbath ensued afterwards by the victorious Roman as the rebel tried to flee.
It's kinda reminiscent of the Battle of Cannae, but even more stupid.
