r/antiwork · Posted by u/evanjw90 17 hours ago Turned down a promotion. I was promised a promotion six months ago. Never happened, I just got my work load increased without a pay increase. So I took that time to get my insurance license in California. Now I'm set to start a new job, working from home, in three weeks. Guess who got a phone call last night, congratulating them on earning a promotion? Me!! Guess who else turned down that promotion? Me!! The shock in her voice was amazing. It was followed up by the restaurant owner calling me to verify I said no to the position. The confusion when he asked me why was worth all the BS. I was going to give my two weeks on Monday, but that opportunity was too good to pass up. I informed him that next Friday would be my last day. That was followed up by an even bigger promotion. Suddenly. But for the last six months we had "no money anywhere to afford a raise at this time." Lol. Go get a better job. They're out there.
