If I recall correctly Amish people actually will use just about any technology but only if the whole community agrees it is beneficial. That being said they prefer to keep things simple as possible and to keep to themselves. So while ultimately they do still buy some products from other communities if they can help it they will make what they need by themselves.

Their not perfect but their probably some of the best socialists out there.
