Greg x Pearl Sketch refers to a series of sketches drawn by Steven Universe creator Rebecca Sugar showing Greg Universe and Pearl having a romantic, intimate moment together. The sketch was shared by Steven Universe artist Raven Molisee on Patreon in July 2024, along with a description claiming Sugar drew them and originally, Greg and Pearl were going to become a couple. They went viral on X / Twitter as early as September 20th, 2024. The sketch became the subject of discourse and memes over the following years, particularly in the Steven Universe fandom.

Origin

On July 30th, 2024, Raven Molisee posted a series of sketches to her Patreon^[1] page depicting Pearl and Greg Universe from Steven Universe hooking up. According to the Patreon post's description, the art was drawn by the series' creator, Rebecca Sugar, the caption reading in part, "Oh yeah, Pearl was supposed to end up with Greg! These were drawn by Rebecca early on in the show…"

The sketches were leaked online as early as September 20th, 2024, with X^[2] user @NugatorySheep posting them that day. The user does not appear to be the first to leak the images.

Spread

Word of the sketches garnered viral spread online over the following days in late September 2024. On September 21st, X^[3] user @Someone_w_wifi posted a meme about the impact of the sketches on the Steven Universe fandom, garnering over 103,000 likes in eight months.

On the same day, X^[4] user @bubblegumrebel shared the sketches, writing, "this is simultaneously not surprising at all and also the biggest fucbing gag of all time like how are my eyeballs actually seeing this," garnering over 40,000 likes in the same span of time.

Later on September 21st, the DreamWorks Cartoon House: Bigger, Longer & No Ban Facebook^[5] page posted them, garnering over 260 shares and 360 reactions in eight months.

On September 22nd, 2024, X^[6] user @RakintorWorld shared Greg x Pearl fan art in response to the sketches, garnering over 3,700 likes in eight months.

On September 28th, Redditor u/Inevitable-Charge76 posted the sketch to the /r/StevenUniverse^[7] subreddit, garnering over 5,900 upvotes in eight months.

On September 30th, YouTuber^[8] The Roundtable posted a video about the sketches leaking, garnering over 270,000 views in eight months.

On April 30th, 2025, X^[9] user @Ezequiel__Hips reposted the meme by @Someone_w_wifi, writing, "There are too many people who overreacted to this and were offended by the sketch, come on dude," garnering over 28,000 likes and 920 reposts in a day.
