The original pitch for the series was that Deku would be a batman/ironman type of hero who didn't have powers; and used gadgets, intellect, and physical training to win against people with quirks. The editor though said that he had to have powers. I think that Aizawa and Shinso were worked into a lot of what Deku was going to be; as Aizawa was invented to be the homeroom teacher after the editor said that Midnight was too erotic to be the homeroom teacher.
