You can like a company's games and fucking hate their business decisions.

I don't think this really is hypocrisy. Nintendo has two faces and it's reasonable to like one and hate the other.

On one hand, Nintendo makes great games, released frequently, and with an average quality far faaar above anything else in the video game industry. Nintendo games are at worst OK, and very often fantastic.

On the other hand, their policies regarding copyrights, transformative use of their IP, piracy, esport or retrogaming are fucking maddening. They keep making irrational decisions that do nothing but make people pissed at them, often coming to situations where doing absolutely nothing would be better.

These two sides of Nintendo aren't managed by the same people and one doesn't invalidate the other. These shitty business decisions at least have the upside of not affecting game quality directly. You may mock Nintendo fans for their blind devotion, but don't blame them for enjoying objectively great games.
