About
Steel Ball Run, also known as Jojo's Bizarre Adventure Part 7 or Steel Ball Run: JoJo’s Bizarre Adventure, is the seventh main story arc of Hirohiko Araki's acclaimed manga series, JoJo's Bizarre Adventure. Serialized from 2004 to 2011, the story is set in the United States in 1890 and follows Johnny Joestar, a paraplegic former jockey, and Gyro Zeppeli, a disgraced executioner, as they compete in a cross-country horse race with a $50 million prize. Online, the series has gained a significant fan base, which spawned image macros, catchphrases, photoshop edits and other memetic content based on panels from the manga. In mid-April 2025, an anime adaptation was announced, gaining viral attention and celebration among fans of the series.
History
Steel Ball Run[1] was originally serialized in Shueisha's Weekly Shōnen Jump starting on January 19th, 2004, but later moved to Ultra Jump, a seinen magazine, where it continued until April 19th, 2011. The arc features 95 chapters, compiled into 24 volumes.

2025 Anime Announcement
On April 12th, 2025, Warner Bros. Japan announced the anime adaptation of Steel Ball Run, the seventh part of the JoJo’s Bizarre Adventure series, at the end of the JOJODAY STAGE. The teaser[2] (seen below) amassed over 2 million views and 206,000 likes in a few hours.
The release date of the anime has yet to be announced.

Steel Ball Run has been the subject of memes and jokes among fans of the JoJo’s Bizarre Adventure series since early 2019. For instance, on July 27th, 2019, an unknown Reddit[3] user uploaded a meme about the series to the r/ShitPostCrusaders subreddit, amassing more than 1,000 upvotes and 25 comments in six years. The announcement of the anime adaptation in mid-April 2025 gained significant attention on social media platforms, with fans expressing their excitement with memes and comedic videos on Twitter / X, TikTok and Reddit. For example, on April 12th, 2025, TikTok[5] user @asazero_0 posted the I get it now meme paired with the official Steel Ball Run anime illustrations (seen below), receiving over 172,000 plays and 38,000 likes in a few hours.

On the same day, X[6] user @TK7TF edited Johnny Joestar and Gyro Zeppeli illustration paired with the overlay text "Look who tf showed up at my front door." The post (seen below) amassed more than 33,000 views and 1,000 likes in a few hours.
