Mr Cake's explanation was a clear case of the writers messing with the bronies attempts to keep canon internally consistent, I have surrendered to a Simpsons style canon for MLP, big changes and character development stay, history, backstory, past events, timelines and rules are all up for reinterpretation, retcon and change.

Hub could come up with something that says, "Pinkie died and was buried," and we'd come up with fanon that says she was really just put into hypersleep by Princess Luna and will awaken at a later date to save all her friends.

Minus the crazy, this is what I think of this fanon:
