Wow Cool Robot - "Also, violence is f------ fun!"- Garth Ennis

Now I confess I haven't read the comics or seen the show yet but based on what I have learned via other sources, the dude saying "superheroes are dumb lol" sounds like someone who would also love the comics, because my understanding is the original comics really is just Garth Ennis, a guy who mainly wrote for The Punisher, basically going "superheroes are lame so here's a comic where they're bad people and they get killed, but also my protagonists aren't that good either." Some aspects of the original comics also haven't aged well based on what I've looked into, like the title characters trying to expose a superhero as gay, which would work fine as a plot point if said superhero was basically no different from someone like a Westboro Baptist member, but my understanding is the superhero isn't like that so it really boils down to "lol we're gonna expose ur gay because fucking faggots are gross, amirite?"

My understanding is people who didn't like the comic because its commentary is really shallow actually love the show because it feels like it's taking the basic idea behind the comic but doing it better, with commentary that actually does more than "superheroes are lame lol," especially with stuff about celebrity and corporate culture.

Yeah, the comic felt very immature at times.
