The game is reported to have been released into a small number of Oregon arcades in a suburb of Portland. After playing, players reported a number of problems including sleep disturbance, nausea, and game aversion. These effects spawned a number of rumors ranging from govemment mind-control experiments to the supernatural. The game's existence is dubious and details regarding possible gameplay are buried beneath layers of urban myth. POLYBIUST" has found its way throughout pop culture and the web.
