Explosive Reactive Armor (ERA) - Leopared 2A4 Obr 2023

German tank doctrine involves having infantry near/next to the tank during movement.

ERA is Explosive Reactive Armor, it explodes in response to contact with a projectile, to destroy the projectile before it can damage the under-lying armor.

Infantry and explosions tend not to mix well.

Gonna have to explain this one to me chief.

I understand ERA plates are used to protect vehicles against powerful munition.
