I agree with you completely, but I guarantee you that the people who judge your appearance or other people's appearance aren't simply limited to 4chan and Reddit (or Twitter, where this screenshot is from).
Regular people, everyday people, will judge maybe not openly but at least internally one another based on appearance. I've seen it done in front of me just like I've seen it done online.
At school, on your workplace, in circles of friends, during casual conversations…
It's just how people are, how we are. If people don't have anything in particular to insult someone, they will target someone's looks
