Like, the Custodes procedures never really specified that it must be male only. Sure, the old lore of them did call them brothers, but at the same time, old Custodes weren't exactly fleshed out either.

I generally don't see much of a problem with this 'retcon' atleast. Aren't GW fans used to them just changing things on the fly at this point? Old-Crons, new-crons, Primaris marines, etc.

This one is fairly minor no? Custodes got a new customization option but literally nothing changes about them other than hammering even more about the fact that Big E clearly got a favorite (the process of making them is now officially and clearly superior to Astartes' procedures).
