Game Freak decided early on that they were not going to do a DP remake. Seems like they backtracked at the last moment and hired ILCA for it (probably because of the delay?) "Based on the traditional development timeline, a DP (Diamond/Pearl) remake could be expected, but we are deciding not to create a simple, proper remake of the original using current technology this time. Occurs immediately after the player becomes the first Alola League Champion. Plot: To coincide with the introduction of the Pokemon League in Alola, 8 Pokemon Gyms will now be built in Alola.
