It's not lying - it's strategy. Companies struggling to hire are missing the point: the best candidates want remote work. If I listed a job as in- office from the start, I'd lose half the talent pool before the conversation even started. Here's what I do instead: 1 Post the role as remote to attract top-tier applicants who wouldn't consider us otherwise. 2 Take them through the hiring process and get them invested in the team, the mission, and the opportunity. 3 Once they accept the offer, I clarify the in-office requirement. And despite what you might think, most don't walk away. By that point, they've already committed. They've turned down other opportunities. They've built momentum. Starting the job search over is more of a hassle than just showing up to the office. It's not deception. It's strategy. And in a competitive hiring market, it's outright genius.
