Although "lurk moar" is perhaps a bit harsh, the idea is essentially there. Don't rush into a community and expect to be welcomed with open arms if you don't know anything about it. I mean, it's not just the internet. Real life is like that too.

Most of them don't want to truly be part of the nerd culture. If they wanted to be, it would be noticeable. All they do is posts stupid facebook posts like "such a nerd XD" because it's trendy.
