can someone explain this logic?

MSN = Star and most used product from Microsoft always functional and polished with every release, it's protocol is LAW in most clients for instant messaging, now killed and switched for more uncomfortable Skype that feels strange, looks awful and insist in Pro accounts

IE = Infamous most hated web browser, disliked and almost dead since 5 and 6 release, many security issues that toke years to solve and that when ready no one really cared about, Microsoft still struggles to position it along other 5 star web browsers with all sorts of media advertising.. Microsoft makes a fight with their most hated product and no one is paying attention to that

Facebook is the one who killed MSN, people tend to like "simple and better", since it's online and you don't have to install it "much better lololo"
I just don't get why didn't Firefox and Chrome killed IE as well.
