This movie is written in it's entirety by the writers and creators of the games, all of the original voice actors are reprising their roles, and it's essentially going to be a non-interactive installment of the franchise with a much more fleshed out plot.

Every awful video game movie has been the result of a big name studio failing to understand the appeal of the source material, in the case of Ratchet and Clank it's shaping up to finally be able to make the transition from game to film without becoming homogenized.

And Wreck-It-Ralph doesn't count, it's a movie about a video game, not based on one.

From what I hear the writers from the actual games are playing a hand in making it.
