Now that's just about as wrong as you can get. Shinies were the shit when I was little. My friends and I would spend hours trying to figure out how Shinies worked and how to get them. (And i'd imagine we'd be all about Mega Stones as well had they existed back in Gen III.) This is especially true now that Shinies are much easier to get through chain fishing, something most kids wouldn't understand. If I had a working 3DS available I'd fish up a shitton of Shinies and trade them all away.
