The thing is, we're not seeing a group of female gamers claiming they're being excluded from gaming. We're seeing individuals claim it on behalf of others, generally individuals that want attention for their own gaming projects, which they were able to create in the first place because the industry is NOT the way they say.

I agree, #NotYourShield doesn't mean that GamerGate is "right" just because we do have a number of women, minorities, etc. that agree with the movement.

What it does mean, however, is that there is a dissenting opinion. That criticisms of anti-GG aren't necessarily based in defending white male privilege. That it isn't so simple to dismiss GamerGate out of hand as simply a discriminatory, sexist, cishet pity party.

Again, having some women and minorities on our side isn't a game changer, but to dismiss their viewpoints as "token," "misguided," or "exceptions to the rule" does weaken the narrative that GG is exclusive whereas anti-GG is inclusive.
