To scientifically explain it, magnesium sulfate is an ionic solid, meaning its intermolecular forces are primarily the electrostatic forces between ions. Electrostatic forces are stronger than the hydrogen bonds between water molecules and the London dispersion forces between gold and xenon atoms. (Sorry if I sound pedantic or if nobody wanted an explanation…)
