artemispanthar anonymous asked This is kind of a reply to the person talking about Pearl's outburst. I lost my dad and everything in that episode was spot on about my grief. You find out things about them after they're gone that make you feel betrayed. You wonder what they would think of you and whether they'd be proud of you, but even though you know they would you can't see it and that hurts so much. Every time Steven Universe deals with grief it seems to get it right, it's one of the few that for me personally does l often wonder if the writers of the show are drawing from experience or if they're just incredibly insightful because there's a real raw realistic aspect to how they approach subjects like grief that feel like they really know what they're talking about. Some things are hard to understand unless you've lived them and SU has a lot of these moments that are sometimes lost on fans because they haven't experienced it yet Grief is such a complex emotion and the loss itself is only part of it, its all the life you have after thats different now that they're gone. Feeling betrayed feeling disillusioned, feeling lost or scared, and worried about if they'd still care about you are common when grieving. It's a whole bunch of things you can't know and no knowing things is scary l've said this a lot tonight but I'm just so so impressed with how this show tackles the subject of grief and doesn't try to keep it pretty.
