It delves a lot into Ruby and Sapphire too. Her going on about what love is has to reflect a lot on their own relationship, even before they decided to form Garnet.

I think the writers will take this episode into account when they eventually set up a Ruby and Sapphire prequel episode.

Now, now. They also openly admitted that Ruby and Sapphire are in a relationship, rather than ‘cousins’.

But yeah, this was kind of your derivative sitcom plot. But it is fun that Garnet shut it down as quickly as possible at every possible point. To the curt wording in her rejection letter, to her tone when she said “I didn’t write that” (which had a nice ‘bitch, please’ kind of nuance), to the amazingly mature discussion of love when she finally tried setting Jamie straight.

Really, this was an episode where we just reveled in Garnet as a character. No need for much plot advancement past the usual background stuff they add.
