This can be a great basis for a movie. Some student gets his phone stolen, the police are unable to help, so he tries to find it on his own like this – and stumbles upon a huge criminal empire or something. And takes it down by manipulating the bad guys via his old phone (feeding their locations to the police, etc.)

If a film student can do all this stuff imagine what the government can do.
