PlayStation All-Stars Battle Royale: AKA... wait, Mishima?

Speaking of those preorder bonuses, when I preordered PSASBR, it came with "Extra costume for every character in the game at launch". Curious they haven't shown any alternate skins post-Toro and Heihachi.

Hopeful news: All-Stars will be at Tokyo Game Show, so hopefully new character reveals (fingers crossed).

Pre order bonuses from Gamestop Poker Playing cards:

I noticed something when look at the card-stuff:

Most, if not all, playing card packs come with 54 cards. Now, excluding the two jokers (who's probably the boss) you are left with 52 cards. And thinking about it, red and black will be replaced by characters and their alternate costumes. Do you know what that leaves us?

26 unique cards. 26 cards based off the game's characters. Which probably means we are getting 26 characters in this game. Any input?

Wow, I think that screen is legitimate. Why?

Well, THIS just got accidentally leaked on the official website (could be photo shopped though).

Now, If you don't mind mind me I'll just be punching the air with happiness.

It's pretty much confirmed that she'll be one of the TGS reveals (Gravity Rush was also developed by SCE Japan so it makes total sense).

Supposed Cloud leak.

Look at that portrait in the bottom-right.

If that's not Cloud, then I don't know what is.

Man, I'm always late at bringing the news. Well, yes, that was confirmed last night. Remember though, Superbot will have a conference Friday night/Saturday morning, so new characters might appear soon.

Jeez, that LocoRoco / MGR mashup seems a bit random. Anyway, in one of the IGN Strategy videos that feature Seth Killian he stated there would be a MGS stage plus sound hints (he's been hinting about some sound Easter Eggs for a while), codec call with Snake anyone?

Now, for the new trailer. New stages finally unveiled are the Reisistance – San Fransisco stage and that Loco Roco stage. Anyone know what the mashup in the Resistance one is? Anyway, there was one more stage that I'm pretty sure is the leaked Sly Cooper – Paris stage.

And the mashup is the Negativitron from LittleBigPlanet 2 (which also includes that screen in the background I think).

Hope you're right, Lotus. I'm dying for new character reveals (*cough*Kat*cough*).
I'm glad with the changes in the TGS trailer looks way more polished, especially with the UI and character models.

Oh, and have some alternate costumes.

While I wasn't too fussed about this game earlier, I've been quite intrigued at the approach it's taken in terms of fighting. Looks to be interesting.

I'm a little worried about Sir Daniel, his playstyle looks a lot like Link (Variety of items, many projectiles, slow). Seeing how Link is considered quite a bad character in SSB, I'm hoping Dan won't be the same case.

Dante looks to play like he did in MvC3, some similar attacks and good combo capabilities. Even though I hope he isn't going to be the exact same. I don't want to play this online and be faced with Dante in every match.

I do like the style they went for Sly Cooper, a very interesting fighting strategy indeed. It's like they took the Spy from TF2 and put him into a fighting game. Very hyped to play as Cooper.

I'll be awaiting the latest character reveals, they are sure to be great.

There's some news flying around and it's causing some real chaos.

According to Sid Shuman, a Sony social media specialist, There are no more characters to announce.

However, some people think this is either false or a misunderstanding, as Superbot hasn't released a statement yet. Also add the supposed unlockable characters and at the moment it's hard to tell whether this is true or not.

It'd be best to ignore it until actual news arrives. I've been using my time with WaW and watching some random Parappa clips. It's also fun seeing how mad the guys on the other forums can get over a simple rumor.

Bad news guys, apparently at the EB Games Expo 2012 in Sydney,Omar confirmed that there would be 20 characters at launch.

The optimist in me is still hoping that they're lying so that the next character reveals will pack that much more of a punch. It seems weird that the Kat screen that I posted earlier looked so legitimate but they've said they'll be no more on disk. Unless of course, they're saving her and more for DLC, which doesn't seem that unlikely since they're fairly close to code-lock.

Here's a video interview with Omar at the EB Games Expo, for the most part it's just already known stuff but some interesting stuff comes up. Skip to 16:55 for question about Crash Bandicoot's inclusion in the game. Omar makes it sound as though they've tried but Activision aren't allowing it just yet.

Eh, don't sweat it. This game is game is gonna be awesome none the less. Cool roster, lots of alts and pallets, plus dem most desired minions!

Also, Medusa's Head, the Killing Item:

Alright, I've got some awesome news for a change (albeit, potentially fake).

Paul Gale, guy who's been leaking PSABR info since before the game was announced, sent an email at the start of October to SuperBot saying that if they didn't send him a response email by the 10th (start of New York Comic Con) he'd leak the remaining characters he knew.

Well, the date's up and SuperBot never responded so here's the key points that Paul claims his source says is true. Take these with a grain of salt.

- SuperBot are (or perhaps were) in talks with Ubisoft to get an Assassin's Creed protagonist (Altair, Ezio or Connor). Connor seemed most likely to conicide with AC3

- Kat's fate is unknown but a guess is that both her and Connor were pushed past release date to be DLC. This would make the total characters 26.

- The roster may have even reached the 28 – 30 range with the inclusion of Chun-Li or Ryu from the Street Fighter series, Spyro the Dragon or Dart Feld from The Legend of Dragoon. However, these characters apparently didn't make the cut.

- The final four unannounced characters whom are not DLC according to the source are…

That's Cloud Strife from Final Fantasy 7, Wander from Shadow of the Colossus, Old Snake from Metal Gear Solid 4 and Crash Bandicoot (woo!).

- Last thing, apparently Old Snake and Cloud were supposed to be Tokyo Game Show Character reveals to coincide with Metal Gear Solid and Final Fantasy's 25th Anniversary. No idea why they weren't.

Now, these are all through the words of Paul via his source. And they're not even sure if these characters have been kept or whatnot. Let's hope for any sort of confirmation.

Couldn't think of s moveset for King of Cosmos, huh. Well, it's cool that you're back. Also, new info from Playstation Magazine:

-Kratos and Sweet Tooth are rivals.
-Big Daddy and Sackboy are rivals, and it's because Big Daddy "flies into a rage when his Little Sister decides Sackboy is cuter than he is." There is a screenshot of their cutscene as well.
-Minions are confirmed, and there is a screenshot of the Kat (DmC) minion that we previously saw. Captain Qwark will also be a minion.
-The final boss will be "instantly recognizeable to old-school PSone fans."
-Another mode, known as Combat Trials, features short, character-specific challenges meant to teach new skills and put them to the test.

Also, a scan of the Magazine:

Is that a new stage I spy!? Lemme zoom in:

This looks similar to something… OH…

Here are the currently confirmed rivalries plus some guesses of my own.

Reasons:

Good Cole vs Raiden: Raiden (as pointed out in MGS4) is the name of the god of lightning and thunder. Plus, Raiden was leaked via this image.

Radec vs Evil Cole: The major reason would be simply that they are both evil. Killzone does feature a lightning gun though, so maybe there's some connection there if Radec uses it.

Sir Dan vs Drake: A little vague, but Drake is a bit of a archaeologist, something about Sir Dan being a skeleton could be it.

Sly vs Fat Princess: Aside from them being the only cute, cell-shaded characters left, the major game mode of Fat Princess is to 'steal' the princess. Sly being a thief lends some weight to this rivalry.

I was thinking it could be Good vs Evil Cole and thus some changes, but other connections seemed way too vague.

I'm personally just hoping these rivalries turn out to be more than just two cutscenes, before and after, the rival fight. Although it probably won't have a subspace emissary mode like brawl, they do really have to find a way to bring more than just two characters together somehow. Best thing about a crossover is the interaction between characters.

>Ratchet, Cole, Sackboy and Jak alternate skins

Not sure why Dante's is just a removal of clothing. Not sure what Nariko's is either.

I just had a revelation:

(Raiden is PS3 because it's Revengence Raiden and I was a little indecisive about Mishima since he started in arcades and had appeared on every PS home console.)

There really isn't that much handheld exposure. The only PSP coverage is the mix with Patapons in the Hades level and the Locoroco level.

And the Vita doesn't have any (yet). Kat's appearance would be appreciated as a Vita rep. Although to be fair, the PSP doesn't really have any notable reps that I could think of that would make good fighters. Still a little weird when you think about it that the PS3 was given the most coverage.

New gameplay from CVG. Judging by another gameplay video they have, it seems that hazards were turned off.

@Cyber: Hmmm, I don't know, I tend to see it a bit differently…

I thought it'd be good to put Dante and Raiden in the PS2 roster since they originated on said console. Tekken arcade machines had PSX technology, so that counts. Also remember, Toro has a video game series of his own. While the PS3 still has the most reps, it roster feels pretty good at the moment. If the four rumored characters are true, then that would make the PSX roster the biggest. I do agree that the handhelds do need some reps. Maybe when DLC comes…

They should include Chimera Nathan Hale, and his super would involve the powers he obtained from Daedalus.

Last edited Nov 10, 2012 at 11:34PM EST

Yep, Nathan Hale in there would be great, although I would be worried that he would play too much like Radec but with some Daedalus powers (might be hard to do since he was only like that for a limited time) it could be unique.

Either him or Joseph Capelli would be worthwhile, I was shocked we've barely had any talk of a Resistance rep considering there's a Resistance Stage

@The Attract Trailer
That one of the most badass trailers I've seen all year. That's come close to rivaling Super Smash Bros in terms of quality trailers. If this had the build-up that the live action trailer did, I wouldn't of been disappointed.

There really need to be a filter, or at least a map that makes the game dark like that and makes the special features of each character glow.

I'm surprised that with how much you guys are keeping track of the development of the game, none of you have already mentioned the Kat and Emmett Graves "free for two weeks" DLC announced last Thursday.

LINKAGE!

With only two days left (at least for me) before the game officially hits stores, I can honestly say I've been losing sleep over this game. I mean, seriously, I'm typing this post up at four in the morning. I've never been this hyped for a release date before, it's crazy!

Well, suffice it to say, I'm gonna enjoy kicking all your asses when the 20th comes along! I hope you all have fun kicking mine too.

On another note, I'll forever love that Dancing Dan animation. All other gifs pale in comparison.

Haha, same Jostin. Although it comes out 1 or 2 days later for us Australians, it comes out the day after exams finish for me (lucky!).

As I've said before, Kat's inclusion was very necessary, sad though that they're only in the character model wire-frame creation. Emmett seems like an odd choice, although many are happy to see him, with him being from a not-great selling game that resulted in the dev's split from Sony and job cuttings. Although I am intrigued to see how the "build and battle" system will be implemented into combat.

I've read from a few places that Seth Killian said that Sony is now in full talks with Activision over the inclusion of Crash. Sorry to get your hopes up again, but let a faint glimmer of optimism remain.

Here's a picture of some of the skins / alternate colors from the IGN livestream with Omar (Aww yeah, Reaper Cole) -

I'll be maining Ratchet and Jak. If anyone wants to friend me so we can battle, my PSN is the same as my KYM username.

Dante's alternate skins still make me laugh every time I see them. I mean, the pre-order one is "jacketless" and one of the in-game ones is "shirtless". What's next? "Pantsless"? "Boxerless?" That's just nuts!

Also, Toro has the best alternate costume in my opinion. Nothing says "I'm the boss" like wearing a Hawaiian motif while kicking Big Daddy, Kratos, and Sweet Tooth down to the ground.

However, if there was one alternate costume that I wanted in the game, it would have to be Doughnut Drake. I would freely accept SuperBot as my gods and goddesses if they added this into the game.

As for that PSN thing, I'll add you guys as friends when I have some spare time. I'll be maining Sly, Good Cole, and Sackboy so you all better watch out!

I really hope that stage is unlockable. The XMB-themed stage is probably one of SuperBot's smartest ideas, in my opinion.

I would have mentioned it sooner, but I'm being REALLY lazy when it comes to anything right now. Either way, stoked to hear about the DLC, I knew Kat would get in somehow.
BTW, does anyone know if all the rival cutscenes are out yet? I can only find a few so far.

I'd play if I wanted to, I'm just broke unfortunately. I have played a demo of it before and, to me, it feels really nice. I thought it'd be a bit floaty since some games in the brawler genre feel like gravity has been lifted a bit. Also, I really love comboing my opponents a lot. I think I'll go for Parappa, Jak (due to the demo), Nariko, Sir Dan, Toro, Heihachi, Raiden, Dante and the Coles.

Wouldn't say that, Ermac. I've been having a blast with it. I'm currently a purple belt (although there are 3 more belts higher ;_; )

One thing I will say without hesitation that's been disappointing though, and that's the arcade mode. Two voice-over cutscenes and a short in-game one. This game really needed a Subspace Emissary mode like Brawl, something to meet them all together.

Other than that, pretty happy with the game. Gameplay is great, attention to detail is magnificent, all characters (cept good and evil Cole) feeling unique unlike Brawl and all feel like their moveset was ripped from their respective games.

Sweet Jesus is Raiden overpowered, his level 2 is BETTER than his level 3, and his combos are ridiculous. Also, I often get the error of joining games with a random character not of my choosing.

Glad for all the unlockables, great incentive for replayability, wish there were more meaningful unlockables though, like costumes rather than just one + preorder DLC.

So yeah, really happy with it, I'm especially impressed by the cross-play with the Vita version. I really hope a sequel would include better presentation, more character interactions and of course, way more characters.
