Every now and then I see a user wondering about his/her title. Sometimes what it means, other times how he/she got it. So here’s a thread explaining all of the titles and how they are gained.
Regular Titles: These are the titles that every normal user gets. These titles are based upon your contributions to the site and there are different titles for every type of contribution. These titles don’t share anything special related to the user and are gained when certain requirements have been met. Also see this thread for more information.
Forum/Comment Contributions
- Conversationalist: 1000 Forum Posts or Comments.
- Commentator: 100 Forum Posts or Comments.
- Gold Member: 50 Forum Posts or Comments.
- Lurker: 25 Forum Posts or Comments.
- Member: 10 Forum Posts or Comments.
Media Contributions
- Archivist: 500 Images or Videos.
- Collector: 100 Images or Videos.
Entry Contributions
- Research Advisor: ? Edits or ? Editorships.
- Resident Researcher: 1000 Edits or ? Editorships.
- Sr. Researcher: 100 Edits or ? Editorships.
- Researcher: 50 Edits or ? Editorships.
- Jr. Researcher: 25 Edits or ? Editorships.
In every case one of the two factors have to be met. Contributions leading to the same titles don’t add up. For example: 500 comments and 500 forum posts won’t make you a Conversationalist. Also I’m not sure of the number of Editorships, as I’ve never seen a good example of this. I also can’t place Research Advisor.
Brand New Member isn’t related to anything, this is given to new members until they’ve reached the requirements for a different title. Some titles have priorities over other titles. The priorities are as following:
- Research Advisor
- Resident Researcher
- Sr. Researcher
- Conversationalist
- Archivist
- Collector
- Commentator
- Researcher
- Gold Member
- Jr. Researcher
- Lurker
- Member
- Brand New Member
