Caps Lock is a term used for the button on your keyboard that makes your letters capital. When spamming, trolls often use this a way of annoyance on message boards such as 4chan. Desu, Billy Mays, and George Zimmer are all instances of memes where Caps lock is prevalent.

Google trends says that the spark of caps lock may have started in early 2004, following the release of 4chan, in early October.

Often called “Cruise control for cool”, Caps lock is very widely used among all of the internet, symbolysing anger, frustration, but also things like excitement.
